Fight the Weight Loss Plateau!

If you have been in an indoor exercise rut, the warm March temps aren’t the only thing that should give you a kick in the behind to get out of it. Research suggests that your body becomes accustomed to your workout, often causing a weight loss plateau. To combat this, keep your body challenged with new activities. Plateaus occur when your body becomes used to daily activities and doesn’t burn calories as efficiently as it did when you were first taking part in that activity. So, get off that treadmill and onto the basketball court or even just switch to running outside to help get you out of a rut!

NLT: Catch the March Madness fever this month and take a card from your alma mater. As college teams compete for the Final Four, try shooting hoops! Green Goddess Edamame Salad & Dressing

3/4 cup frozen, shelled edamame

1/2 cup celery, thinly sliced

1/3 cup chopped marinated artichoke hearts

¼ cup thinly sliced radishes

Dressing:

2 Tbsp fat-free plain yogurt

1 Tbsp finely chopped, shelled, raw pistachios

1 Tbsp steeped green tea, cooled to room temperature

1 Tbsp thinly sliced green onion

1 tsp finely chopped parsley

1 tsp red wine vinegar

½ tsp minced garlic

1.     Defrost edamame in microwave according to package directions. Let cool to room temperature.

2.     Combine dressing ingredients in small bowl. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

3.     Toss edamame, celery, artichoke hearts, and radishes together with dressing and serve.

Makes 1 serving.

Celebrity Weight Loss

Today I chatted with George Stephanopoulos during a segment on Good Morning America for Women’s Health Magazine. We spoke about the recent wave of popular celebs that’ve made some pretty stunning transformations this summer.

Drew Carey, John Goodman, Jennifer Hudson, and Bill Clinton all slimmed down this summer, and each of them followed different diets to shed the weight!

Frozen Treats– YUM!

This morning I was on Good Morning America with Women’s Health Magazine, talking about one of my favorite topics – frozen treats!

On these HOT Summer days sometimes there’s nothing better then a cold, delicious…Indulgence!  I’m all for satisfying your craving, just remember to make it a conscious indulgence.
