WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

Hummus deserves a lot of attention in the world of nutrition, and it’s easy to see why. Made from mashed chickpeas, hummus is a yummy go-to spread that tastes great with so many different things: vegetables, crackers, pita and more. It is a great substitution for mayonnaise, cream cheese, meats and dips, which may be less than healthful options. It is packed with fiber and protein, which will keep you full, as well as healthy omega-3 fats that are essential for a healthy heart. It’s also a great staple to have on hand as it is easily converted into a meal with little effort. Spread the hummus on some whole wheat bread, and you’ve got a tasty snack that’s sure to fill you up. If you feel creative, add some sliced cucumbers, spinach, avocado, tomato or roasted peppers. Delish!
